CAMH needed to rebuild their LinkedIn conversion tracking after a policy change made their previous approach unworkable. We configured three Google Tag Manager containers and got donation and email sign-up conversions flowing to LinkedIn Ads — in 24 hours of support time.
After LinkedIn changed its policies for health-related content, CAMH could no longer use the LinkedIn Insights tag they’d been relying on for conversion tracking. They wanted to track donation completions and email sign-ups using LinkedIn’s Conversion API (CAPI), and had started the work internally — but needed help getting the data flow across the finish line.
We configured three Google Tag Manager containers: two web containers and one server container running on Google Cloud. The two web containers send analytics and conversion events to the server container. The server container forwards those events to both Google Analytics 4 and LinkedIn Ads.
The setup sends hashed email addresses and LinkedIn IDs to LinkedIn Ads for secure matching, which means CAMH can now retarget donors and email sign-ups with LinkedIn ad campaigns.
Two conversion events are now being tracked: donation completions and email sign-ups. Both pass securely to LinkedIn Ads for matching and retargeting. CAMH has a working, privacy-compliant LinkedIn tracking setup without needing to rebuild their analytics infrastructure from scratch.
