Project Overview

York University’s Schulich School needed a fundraising tool that could handle multiple funds, show real-time progress, and automate what their team had been doing manually. The 2025 Schulich Giving Day raised $511,358 from 433 donors, surpassing the $400,000 goal by 30%.

  1. Challenge

York University’s Schulich School of Business was running challenge-based and giving day fundraising programs with significant manual overhead. Their standard online giving pages couldn’t show progress toward goal, display donor walls, or handle the kind of fund-specific donor journey they needed for programs like Support-A-Lion, where donors give to particular athletic teams or faculties.

Donation designations were being managed manually. Staff time was being spent on tasks that should have been automated. And the donor-facing experience wasn’t showing the energy of the campaign — there was no way to surface how close a team was to their goal in real time.

They needed a platform that could professionalise the donor experience and reduce the operational load on their team at the same time.

  2. Solution

We implemented Luminate Online’s TeamRaiser with a set of custom configurations built specifically for Schulich’s programs.

The team functionality was adapted to represent multiple funds visually, so donors could easily choose where to give and administrators could manage the backend without needing custom intervention for every gift. Donation designations were automated with custom code that assigned the correct fund based on the donor’s selection, removing a manual processing step entirely.

We also built a custom code toggle between a countdown timer and a fundraising thermometer, giving the client flexibility to switch the on-page display depending on where they were in the campaign timeline. Pre-launch, the countdown builds urgency. Once the campaign is live, the thermometer shows momentum.

  3. Results

The 2025 Schulich Giving Day raised $511,358 from 433 donors, the most successful Giving Day since the program launched in 2020.

The Support-A-Lion Challenge showed even stronger year-over-year movement. Donor count grew 55% and revenue grew 90%. Individual athletic programs saw results like: Football up 717% in donors, Women’s Soccer up 500% in donors, Field Hockey up 300% in donors and 570% in dollars.

The automation also delivered what it was supposed to: reduced staff time on campaign operations, allowing the team to focus on marketing the programs rather than managing the mechanics behind them.

“The Yeeboo team were fantastic to work with as we endeavored to expand our toolkit to include TeamRaiser with a unique application of the system. They did a wonderful job of working to understand our goals and expectations and managed the project in a very professional and timely manner. They brought great solutions to the table and continually collaborated with us in a positive way to ensure our needs were met.”
