Powering a National Movement for Change

Ovarian Cancer Canada partnered with Yeeboo Digital to launch a modern, bilingual, multi-location peer-to-peer fundraising platform for their national Walk of Hope. Using our custom front-end peer-to-peer events template and powered by Blackbaud’s TeamRaiser platform, we helped deliver a fast, accessible, and mission-driven experience that simplifies participation and powers community-led action across Canada.

Ovarian Cancer Canada is the only national charity dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer. Their mission is to boldly and unapologetically take action through research, advocacy, and community in order to change outcomes for women living with the disease.

To strengthen this mission and support their flagship peer-to-peer event, the Walk of Hope, the organization needed a digital platform that could deliver a seamless experience for participants, donors, and internal teams alike.

Partnering with Yeeboo Digital, the team set out to modernize their multi-location TeamRaiser event site with a bilingual, brand-aligned, and highly usable platform built for long-term success.

The Challenge

To support the success of their national Walk of Hope, Ovarian Cancer Canada needed a modern, scalable platform that could meet the needs of participants, donors, and internal teams alike.

  • Outdated Fundraising Experience: The legacy Walk of Hope site offered limited flexibility, making it difficult to reflect current branding or provide a smooth experience across regions and languages.
  • Disconnected from Mission: The previous design lacked visual impact and emotional resonance, making it harder to communicate the urgency and boldness of Ovarian Cancer Canada’s mission.
  • Difficult Registration Flow: Participants faced friction when choosing a location or registration path, creating potential drop-off points during sign-up.
  • Limited Search and Donation Tools: Finding a participant, team, or location was not intuitive, making it harder for donors to support specific fundraisers.
  • Disorganized and Overwritten Codebase: Over time, the backend code had been repeatedly modified, making it difficult to manage, update, or troubleshoot without risk. The lack of structure increased the chance of errors and created unnecessary complexity for ongoing maintenance.
  • High Maintenance for Internal Teams: Setting up and managing dozens of local events required significant manual effort and made consistent branding across pages a challenge.

The Solution

To deliver an impactful, scalable solution, we implemented Yeeboo Digital’s custom TeamRaiser template, tailored to OCC’s brand, strategy, and bilingual requirements within a 3 month project.

  • Flexible, Branded Template Design: We customized our reusable TeamRaiser template to align with OCC’s visual identity, incorporating typography, colour palette, and custom-styled components across all event pages.
  • Mission-Driven Design and Content Blocks: We aligned content structure with OCC’s bold messaging, pairing impactful visuals with succinct copy to better connect with users and encourage action.
  • Bilingual, Multi-Location Setup: We implemented both English and French content for the blueprint event and setup location-specific custom homepages through child events, ensuring a seamless, inclusive experience for participants and supporters across Canada.
  • Streamlined Registration and Search Tools: We designed registration and donation pathways that prioritize speed and ease. Users can now choose their location via dropdown, register with fewer clicks, and find participants or teams with a national search feature.
  • Internal Efficiency Through Replication: We empowered the OCC team to manage and replicate 32 location-specific TeamRaiser events efficiently with our training, admin manual, and blueprint setup process.
  • Built-In Accessibility and Responsive Design: The template adheres to WCAG 2.1 AA standards and is fully responsive across devices, ensuring equitable access and consistent usability.

Together, these elements created a system that works as hard as the campaign does. It’s now scalable, easy to use, and rooted in mission.

The Results

The redesigned Walk of Hope platform supports a more empowering and accessible experience for both the community and OCC’s internal teams.

  • Stronger Mission Connection: The site design reinforces OCC’s bold tone, helping to strengthen the emotional impact of the Walk of Hope’s purpose and storytelling.
  • Friction-Free Participation: Simplified navigation, quick-start registration, and intuitive search tools help users get involved faster and more confidently.
  • Bilingual, Inclusive Engagement: Participants and donors across Canada can engage in either English or French without compromise in experience or clarity.
  • Empowered Staff and Scalability: Internal teams can now replicate and manage dozens of events with far greater efficiency and consistency.

Through thoughtful and inclusive design, strategic use of technology, and a deep understanding of peer-to-peer fundraising, we delivered a scalable, branded, and bilingual platform that empowers both participants and staff.

With this new foundation in place, Ovarian Cancer Canada is better equipped to reach more communities, share more stories, and fuel more hope in the fight against ovarian cancer.
